This position has been filled. We will be doing another round of hiring in March for one more position that would mostly be one day per week (Sundays). The position would start the last week of March or first week of April. We are looking for someone to run our stand at the farmers market on Saturdays and Sundays. This job includes picking up and dropping off our market van at the farm, loading buckets of flowers into the market van, setting up and breaking down the market stand, and carrying out sales while providing customer service to market goers. You will also be responsible for restocking products in the market van. You need to be able to accurately count money, use the Square POS system, use the Venmo app, and use the Google Sheets App to fill out sales logs. During the busier months (April - October), we go to 3-4 markets per week. During the rest of the year we usually only go to 2 markets per week. Markets are Saturdays and Sundays, so you must be available both of those days for the entire year (occasionally taking time off is OK, but we need commitment for the entire year).
The ideal candidate:
- Will have prior farmers market experience, or experience that is comparable - Is able to multitask and work independently - Has the willingness and desire to learn about our products in order to educate our customers - Is exceptionally responsible, energetic, and has a positive attitude - Is physically able to perform some heavy lifting required for market setup and breakdown - Is able to work 8-10 hour shifts while standing for long periods of time - Has a smartphone and is able to download the Square app, Venmo app, and the Google Sheets app - Is a good driver with a good record, and feels comfortable driving to and from the Los Angeles area - Is punctual, and is able to work shifts that start early in the morning - Is available to work the entire season for 2024 (occasional time off is ok) - Is ambitious, and would like to grow with our company and expand their responsibilities
We pay a training rate of $18/hr. Once you are fully trained, and we feel that you are a good addition to our team, the hourly compensation increases to $20/hr. Training usually takes about 3-4 weeks. After 90 days your compensation will increase to $22/hr. You will be paid as an independent contractor, and you will receive an IRS-1099 for all wages paid.

Garland Crew Position
This position has been filled. We will be doing another round of hiring in April for one more position.
Each week we harvest thousands of individual strawflowers, and each week we turn those flowers into garlands. We are looking to add someone to our team to help with both harvesting and garland production.
The ideal candidate: - Has a strong work ethic - Is able to focus on each task - Is able to complete each task in a timely manner - Is able to tolerate working outside for up to 4 hours at a time in hot weather, as well as cold, wet, or windy weather. - Easily accepts constructive criticism in order to become more efficient at working with the team - Is wanting to stay with our business long-term and grow with us
Training will include: - Learning how to harvest the flowers and perform maintenance on the plants (i.e. pruning, deadheading) - Learning how to string flowers correctly, quickly, and efficiently - Learning how we organize our production, storage, and record keeping
Although the job requires a quick pace and a sense of urgency, it is also a very fun job where you get to work with an amazing crew of ladies. Harvesting is all outside work in the sun, or in the fog, or in the wind, or sometimes in the rain, but the stringing is done inside where it is air conditioned (when it's hot outside), or heated (when it's cold outside). Stringing is usually done while listening to podcasts, audiobooks, or music. Garland days tend to be our favorite days on the farm. The shifts for this position are every Monday and Thursday. The shifts start early (7:30am in winter, 6:30am in summer).
$18/hr during your training period. Once you show that you have acquired the ability to do the job quickly and efficiently, and we feel that you are a good addition to our team, your pay will be raised to $20/hr. You will be hired as an independent contractor, and you will receive a 1099 for all income paid. You will be paid once a week for all work done the week prior.
If you're interested in becoming part of our garland crew, please answer the questions below. After you submit the application we will also ask you to send us a resume. We are also currently hiring for our farmers market position. If you would like to apply for that position as well please fill out the application for that in the section above. Thanks!
